Welcome to my little corner of the Internet!
Writing an “About Page” is like writing a bio or a cover letter – and it’s a very uncomfortable task. It’s kind of like saying, “Hey look at me and how great I am! Please like me!” Most people don’t want to come across as desperate. But in my previous About Page, I was trying too hard. I wrote what I hoped would “sell,” not something completely from the heart. It just didn’t feel like my true self.
So, I’m back to the drawing board. I love my brand Warrior Life Wellness, because I think it encompasses my persona. Yet I was trying to form it into something that I thought other people would buy into and therefore would eventually make me money. (Just being honest.) But it felt forced, and I lost passion for my brand.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve remained quite active on that platform for over a year. I post on Stories almost every day, sharing my milspouse life in Germany and what’s going on in my personal life. I also began posting on YouTube regularly in 2018, sharing my tips and experience for other military wives moving overseas. I learned that, through being consistent on those platforms and simply being myself, I can connect with others better and gain more traction.
Since moving to Germany in late 2017, my life has taken some turns I didn’t expect or want. One of those things was getting a non-nursing job so we could make bigger strides toward our current financial goal (becoming debt-free). Another thing was starting to tackle the challenge of infertility. As I’m writing this iteration of my About Page, it’s March 2019 and I was recently diagnosed with endometriosis and a blocked Fallopian tube. I’ve connected with followers on Instagram over infertility and the treatment we are pursuing with NaPro Technology, and it’s been so encouraging to know that my story is helping others – simply because I’ve shared it from the heart!
So, here’s to approaching Warrior Life Wellness with authenticity. My new intention is to treat it as a lifestyle blog. Whatever I’m dealing with in my own life, or what I currently find interesting, is what the topic of discussion will be on this blog. Wellness is something that infiltrates every area of my life, and I see myself as a Warrior with infertility and being an Army wife. So it all still fits together!

10 Things You Might Not Know About Me
Let’s have some fun! I’ve seen this on other blogger sites and think it’s a fantastic idea. Here are ten things that I didn’t mention above and that you may not know about me!
- My BSN is actually my second bachelor’s degree. I also hold a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. I’ve played violin since the age of 3, in fact. (In case you’re wondering, I graduated with my BSN from the Fayetteville campus of the UNC system.)
- I’m a German Shepherd mom. In 2015, while living in North Carolina, we adopted Zoey. She has both a sweet personality and high intelligence. It was such a comfort having her around while Mark was deployed in 2017.
- I’m a native Texan. ‘Nuff said, right? 😉 I was born in Dallas, and after Mark retires from the Army we want to move our family back to the great state of Texas.
- I’m living in Germany right now. The Army life may be stressful, but it also has awesome benefits! We moved here at the end of 2017 and will be here till 2020.
- I was homeschooled up till college. I know, I was one of those weird homeschoolers. 😉 But seriously, I loved home learning and it didn’t hinder me at all in my college years. Mark was also homeschooled most of his life before college.
- My husband and I met online. I used to think that online dating was for people who were “desperate.” But in this modern age of technology, it isn’t so strange anymore. I’m sure glad I used it, because otherwise we never would’ve met!
- My ethnic background is primarily German/Austrian, Filipino, and Slovak. I oftentimes get pegged as being Italian, but I don’t have one lick of Italian in my blood!
- I have titanium rods in my body. At age 13, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. It ended up being severe, a 78-degree curvature, and surgery was the only option. I had a posterior spinal fusion: my spine is fused from T2 to L2 (almost my entire back) and 2 titanium rods are held in place with screws into my spine. It was the most painful experience ever, but I’m actually grateful for the experience. I had the best surgeon and nurses ever, and they inspire me to this day!
- I’m very much a “Type A” person. Schedules, color-coded charts, Bullet Journaling, and being on time are my jam! It’s a good quality to have both for being a nurse and an entrepreneur. However, the Army life challenges me to “go with the flow” sometimes.
- I want to become a Nurse Practitioner. The buck doesn’t stop with becoming an RN! My ultimate goal is to earn my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) and be a “nurse doctor.” But, that won’t happen for several more years – I need a break from school!
