Stuck in a nutrition rut? This food journal can help!
We all get stuck in a nutrition rut sometimes, even those of us who are eating really healthy. And yes, even those of us who talk about health for a living! Recently, I’ve found myself getting more bloated and uncomfortable after eating. It didn’t seem to matter what I ate, not just my lower abdomen but my torso would be so bloated! I hadn’t felt this way for several years.
So, I decided that it was time to cinch up my eating habits. The gluten-free habit hadn’t slipped, but I was eating a LOT of rice, which is a gluten-free grain. I will soon be addressing the difference between being gluten-free and grain-free, but it can be huge for some people. My body is definitely healthier than it was several years ago, and I’ve been able to tolerate more grains on a regular basis.
Watch out for overconsumption of grains (even if gluten-free)
However, I wondered if I had overdone the gluten-free grains. I decided to cut down on grains, and what do you know! The bloating has gone down. But I didn’t want to just go on my memory of what I’ve eaten every day to monitor my progress. I wanted to write down what I ate for every meal and how each meal made me feel. I thought about creating a food journal that looked pretty and organized. And then I thought: well, why not create one for others to use too??
So I present to you my Daily Food Journal printable! It is completely free just by giving me your name and email address.
How this food journal is different
Now, there are many other food journals out there for free. But I added something to mine that I haven’t seen on others: nutrition objectives. I give you several options for what kind of diet you are following, whether that be gluten-free, Paleo, dairy-free, etc. You check the boxes that apply to you and your goals. The reason for this is twofold: 1) so that you are reminded of your goals; and 2) for historical purposes. That way when you look back on your food journals you automatically know what your parameters were, and if you fulfilled them or not. I also give you a space for each meal to note what time you actually ate.
Don’t miss the special announcement + video below!!
Now for the special announcement that I alluded to in the title! If you follow me on social media, you know that I LOVE video. Some people feel uncomfortable in front of the camera but I really enjoy whipping out my phone and recording myself talking or showing what I’m doing. (Does that sound narcissistic?) Recently I came to the realization that it’s silly that I’m not utilizing YouTube for sharing content. So, I’ve decided to officially launch my YouTube channel!
Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE!
What can you expect from me on YouTube? I will be posting one video per week, which will most likely correspond with the blog post is for that week. I am doing this because many people like video more than reading a blog post. (If you’re one of them you’re probably not still reading this.) I personally consume more videos on a weekly basis than reading blog posts. It’s easier to obtain the content because it can be listened to or watched while doing something else. Video also enables followers to connect more personally with the creator because you can see body language, facial expressions, and hear inflection.
The one thing I won’t be talking about on my channel is our military life in Germany. If you want to follow my personal channel for Germany and European travel videos, click HERE.
So, welcome to my channel! I hope that even if you like reading that you will subscribe to the channel. I may eventually do things there that I don’t do on the blog! Make sure to also leave comments and suggestions there so we can have a dialogue and also help others find the videos.
Thanks for being part of the Warrior Life Wellness tribe!
